Transition Period
The weeks or months the seller stays after closing to train the buyer and introduce customers, staff, and vendors.

Transition (or training) terms should state hours, location, compensation, and whether the seller remains an employee or contractor. Two to four weeks is common on small Main Street deals; longer stays appear when the owner is the rainmaker. The period does not replace a non-compete or a complete SOP set. Buyers should confirm the seller’s availability before they rely on a verbal “I’ll stick around.”
